Troy's Frederic Dubbed Senior CLASS Award Candidate

NEW ORLEANS – Troy senior infielder Drew Frederic was 1-of-30 student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Frederic has started all 30 games for the Trojans and boast a .367 average with 23 runs scored, 12 RBIs, eight doubles, a triple and four home runs. The Niceville, Fla., native has been a mainstay in the Troy infield since 2017 and is a two-time All-Sun Belt honoree. He ranks in the top 10 of 12 different categories in the program’s record book and by the end of his career will have played in more game than any other Trojan in school history.

Frederic has been active in the Troy community during his six years in the Troy baseball program. He enjoys participating in Miracle League games and playing the game of baseball with those who are not able to do so. Frederic also gave his time helping children with their homework at the local Boys and Girls home and reading to kids at local elementary schools.

Frederic graduated with a degree in economics in the fall of 2019 and is nearing completion of his MBA.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in May, who will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will then be voted on by media, coaches and fans, with the Senior CLASS Award winner being announced during the 2021 College World Series in June.
