Women's Tennis 4/21/2021 1:53:08 PM Sun Belt Conference Sun Belt Announces 2020-21 Women's Tennis Postseason All-Conference & Individual Awards NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its 2020-21 women's tennis postseason honors Wednesday. South Alabama's Yu Fujioka earned Player of the Year honors after registering a 15-4 overall record in singles action. Fourteen of Fujioka's 15 wins came in No. 1 singles. The senior defeated three ranked opponents this season. Carla Pons has been named Player to Watch for her breakout junior season at UTA. Pons registered a career-high 21 singles wins. The Valencia, Spain native, boasted a perfect 5-0 record in conference action. Texas State's Hana Kvapilova has earned Newcomer of the Year recognition for her perfect 6-0 singles mark in league play. Kvapilove posted a 12-1 overall record in No. 1 singles as her only loss this season came against Top-20 ranked Anna Turati. After posting a team-best 17-2 overall singles record for South Alabama, Otoha Aoki was named Freshman of the Year. The Komaki, Japan native finished conference action 9-0 in singles. Georgia Southern head coach Sean McCaffery has been named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. McCaffery helped lead the Eagles to its first SBC Tournament Championship in program history.
