Coastal Carolina, South Alabama's Hovland to Represent SBC in NCAA Women's Golf Regionals

NEW ORLEANS — Sun Belt women’s golf champion Coastal Carolina is bound for The Buckeye State. The Chanticleers will be 1-of-18 teams competing in the Columbus Regional at The Ohio State University Golf Club – Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, from May 10-12.

Coastal Carolina earned the Sun Belt’s automatic NCAA berth by virtue of its eight-stroke victory over Texas State in the 2021 Sun Belt Women’s Golf Championship. The Chanticleers have won 2-of-3 Sun Belt titles (2018 & 2021) since joining the conference. 
 
Julie Hovland of South Alabama will also represent the Sun Belt as an individual qualifier at the Baton Rouge Regional at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., from May 10-12. 
 
Hovland finished tied for third at the 2021 Sun Belt Women’s Golf Championship with a 36-hole score of 4-under par 140 and boasts the lowest scoring average in the Sun Belt at 71.81. 
 
The top six teams from each 54-hole regional, as well as the top three individuals not on an advancing team from each regional site, will advance to the 2021 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship—held May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
