NEW ORLEANS – For the second-consecutive week, Georgia State's Vazha Shubladze has earned Sun Belt weekly accolades. Shubladze registered his sixth-consecutive singles victory with wins over conference foes South Alabama and Troy. María José Zacarias also received weekly honors after finishing 2-0 in singles competition and going 3-0 in doubles as No. 1 in each lineup.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

The junior, Shubladze, started the weekend with a doubles victory on court three against South Alabama to help clinch the Panthers' one-point advantage. In singles play, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week outlasted No. 79 Julien Evrard in three sets to extend the GSU lead. The Panthers would end up winning the match, 4-3. The following day Georgia State faced another Sun Belt foe in Troy. Shubladze cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the top court, as GSU earned the 4-1 win.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
María José Zacarias, App State
(Sr., San Luis Potosi, Mexico)
Zacarias finished 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles as the No. 1 in both lineups last week. The senior won both of her singles matches in three sets, while she has won a season-best three-straight contests in singles. She and her partner stretched their win streak to five-straight wins after sweeping the competition. Zacarias/Aleshina are 6-2 in league action.
