NEW ORLEANS – After securing weekend series victories in conference play, App State’s Tyler Tuthill and Georgia State’s Josh Smith earned the Sun Belt weekly accolades, presented by GEICO. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Tuthill, App State
(Jr., LHP – Clayton, N.C.)
 
Mountaineer junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Tuthill became the first Sun Belt pitcher to record a 9-inning, complete-game win on the road this season in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Little Rock. The Clayton, N.C., native struck out 11 batters, while allowing just four hits, one walk and one earned run. Tuthill retired 14 of the first 15 batters he faced—and 12 of the final 13. 

Baseball Player of the Week
Josh Smith, Georgia State
(So., OF – College Park, Ga.) 
 
Panther sophomore outfielder Josh Smith hit .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored, five RBIs, two doubles and two home runs on the week. The College Park, Ga., product slugged 1.000—including a 1.250 mark in conference play—to lead Georgia State to its first Sun Belt series sweep since 2018 and first on the road since 2015. Smith had a three-run home run that proved to be the difference in Friday’s 7-4 victory and a two-run bomb that secured a lead the Panthers would never relinquish in Saturday’s 7-5 win.
