Men's Outdoor Track and Field Sun Belt Conference

EIGHTEEN SUN BELT CONFERENCE STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT 2021 NCAA OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEW ORLEANS – After fierce competition at NCAA Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla., and College Station, Texas, the Sun Belt Conference will send 18 student-athletes to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The top 12 individuals in each preliminary event advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The Sun Belt's Most Outstanding Field Performer Autavia Fluker earned a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after finishing first in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 70.02m (229-9). The three-time SBC Track and Field Athlete of the Week qualified for the Olympics Trials at the SBC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 68.17m (223-8).

South Alabama freshman Francois Prinsloo punched his ticket to Oregon after recording a first-place finish in the discus with a mark of 65.85m (216-0). The Worcester, South Africa, native broke a program and facility record with the throw. The Jaguars’ Kyle Rademeyer also qualified in the pole vault after finishing ninth with a leap of 5.25m (17-2¾). 

Louisiana's Yves Cherubin earned a spot in the NCAA Championships by running a personal-best time of 13.65 in the 110m hurdles. Ragin' Cajuns Cole Courtois and Maria Bienvenu will also compete in Eugene, Ore. Courtois advanced in the pole vault after a personal-best mark of 5.35m (17-6½), while Bienvenu qualified in the women's javelin after finishing eighth with a 51.17m (167-10) mark.

Louisiana’s Kennedy London, Ta'La Spates, Serenity Rogers, and Kiana Foster advanced in the 400m relay after breaking a school record with a time of 44.39.

Coastal Carolina's Melissa Jefferson, the Sun Belt's Most Outstanding Track Performer, Newcomer of the Year, and Freshman of the Year, will compete in the 100m and 200m dash. The Chanticleers' David Ejumeta qualified in the men's long jump with a 7.52m (24-8¼) mark.

Troy's Gemma Finch advanced in the women's 800m with a personal-best time of 2:02.81.

Arkansas State's Bennett Pascoe, the Sun Belt’s Most Outstanding Track Performer, ran a personal and facility-best time of 8:37.45 in the 3000m steeplechase for a first-place finish to clinch a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Red Wolves' Eron Carter will join Pascoe at the final site after recording a personal-best mark of 56.73 (186-1) in discus.

UTA’s Arthur Petersen and Bryson DeBerry will also make the trip to Eugene. Peterson will compete in the men’s javelin and DeBerry will appear in the men’s high jump.

Ronnie Briscoe Jr. will represent Texas State—and round out the Sun Belt competitors—after leaping a personal-best 7.71m (25-3½) in the long jump.
