NEW ORLEANS – Contributions to bowl eligibility-clinching wins propel Georgia Southern’s Camden Brown, Louisiana’s Jaden Dugger and Arkansas State’s Jordan Sample to final Sun Belt football weekly honors.
Football Offensive Player of the Week
Camden Brown, Georgia Southern
(Sr., WR – Monroe, La.)
Eagles senior wide receiver Camden Brown caught nine passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Georgia Southern’s 24-19 win over Marshall to clinch bowl eligibility for the fourth-straight season. In the process, the Monroe, La., native became the Georgia Southern single-season record holder for receiving yards as the first-ever Eagle to surpass the 1,000-yard plateau. Brown leads the FBS with 14 touchdown receptions on the season, while his 1,049 receiving yards rank second in the Sun Belt entering postseason play.
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jaden Dugger, Louisiana
(Sr., LB – Pittsburgh, Pa.)
Ragin’ Cajuns senior linebacker Jaden Dugger tied his career-high with 16 tackles in Louisiana’s 30-27 victory over in-state rival ULM to clinch bowl eligibility for the Sun Belt-leading eighth-straight season. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native also registered a team-high 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks in the rivalry win. Dugger’s 118 tackles on the season rank third among Sun Belt student-athletes on the season and are the most by a Ragin’ Cajun since Chris Jacobs’ 120 tackles in 1985.
Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Jordan Sample, Arkansas State
(RS So., LB – Missouri City, Texas)
Red Wolves redshirt sophomore linebacker Jordan Sample had a hand in a pair of momentum-shifting special teams plays in Arkansas State’s 30-29 win over App State to clinch bowl eligibility for the third-straight season. The Missouri City, Texas, product blocked a 43-yard field goal attempt and recovered a fumble on a muffed kickoff return—both in the second quarter. Samples’ plays helped Arkansas State turn a 13-3 deficit into a 16-16 tie by halftime and later into a one-point win.
