App State outscores James Madison 14-2 in OT for 73-61 win
BOONE, N.C. (AP) Ronshad Shabazz made four 3-pointers and scored 21 points, and Appalachian State outscored James Madison 14-2 in overtime for a 73-61 victory on Saturday.
At the end of regulation, Patrick Good dribbled past several defenders and found Kelvin Robinson on the wing for a 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds left to tie it at 59-all.
Tom Vodanovich opened the scoring in overtime with a free throw and his free throw at the 3:56 mark was the final point for James Madison. Griffin Kinney scored on App State's next possession for a 63-61 lead and Shabazz made a fast-break layup to make it 66-61.
Kinney and Good each scored 13 points for Appalachian State (4-6). Robinson made three of the Mountaineers' 12 3-pointers and scored 11 points.
Jackson Kent had 16 points, five rebounds and six assists for James Madison (1-9). He made two free throws with 6.8 seconds left in regulation for a 59-56 lead.

Louisiana surges past New Orleans for 76-71 win
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Jay Wright scored 27 points, including the go-ahead basket with 1:05 remaining then added 3 of 4 foul shots as Louisiana battled past New Orleans 76-71 on Saturday.
Freshman Justin Miller added 11 points and Frank Bartley IV 10 for Louisiana (9-3), which closed on an 8-0 run, while Bryce Washington added 14 rebounds. The Ragin' Cajuns owned a 44-33 advantage on the boards.
Erik Thomas led New Orleans (4-5) with 19 points and 12 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season and third in a row. Tevin Broyles and Nate Frye scored 11 points each for the Privateers, who dropped their first home game this season. UNO opened the second half on an 11-4 run after trailing 34-31 at halftime and led 66-59 after a 16-3 run when Louisiana-Lafayette went cold, missing 6 of 7 shots. The Ragin' Cajuns shot 38.5 percent and made just 6 of 25 3-pointers.

Tulsa pulls away in 2nd half, beats Texas State 74-59
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Sterling Taplin had 13 points and Tulsa raced away in the second half for a 74-59 win over Texas State on Saturday night.
Jaleel Wheeler added 10 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Golden Hurricane (5-4), who had a 12-2 run to lead 51-41 on Pat Birt's 3-pointer with 12:16 left.
Nijal Pearson's layup with 5:23 left cut the deficit to 60-52 for the Bobcats (5-5), but Tulsa answered with a 6-2 burst and led by double digits from there.
Lawson Korita added 12 points, Birt scored 11 and Will Magnay 10. Tulsa outrebounded Texas State 23-10 in the second half.
The Bobcats had their largest lead at 12-5 with 14:34 left in the half and stayed in front until Wheeler's 3 with 2:47 left gave Tulsa a 30-29 lead.
Bobby Conley led Texas State with 19 points, Ojai Black scored 14, Pearson 12 and Kavin Gilder-Tilbury 10.

NW State starts fast, then holds off ULM 68-64
BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) Sabri Thompson had 13 points and Zeek Woodley and Devonte Hall added 11 apiece as Northwestern State started fast and then held on to beat ULM 68-64 in the Shreveport-Bossier Holiday Classic on Saturday.
Northwestern State sprinted to a 20-2 lead and was ahead 30-11 with 6:37 remaining in the first half. ULM opened the second half on a 22-7 run to close to 47-44 midway through the second period. Northwestern State answered with an 8-2 run and held off the Warhawks in the final minutes. ULM drilled four straight treys to close to 66-62 with 44 seconds left.
Northwestern State (5-4) led throughout.
The Demons shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the first half and finished shooting 26 of 49 (53.1 percent) while holding the Warhawks to 25-of-59 shooting.
Sam McDaniel had 13 points and Travis Munnings added 12 with 12 boards for ULM (4-6).

No. 24 USC rallies to beat Troy to improve to 10-0
LOS ANGELES (AP) Jordan McLaughlin scored 19 points, including a go-ahead floater in the lane with 48 seconds left, and No. 24 Southern California remained undefeated with an 82-77 comeback victory over Troy on Saturday night.
Southern California (10-0) has its best since going 16-0 to open the 1971 season. It remains one of two undefeated Pac-12 schools, along with UCLA, which beat Ohio State on Saturday to improve to 12-0.
Chimezie Metu added 18 points and eight rebounds, Elijah Stewart had 11 points and Nick Rakocevic 10.
Wesley Person had 19 points to lead Troy (6-5). It had won three straight.
