McDaniel leads way, ULM beats Jackson St. 65-52
MONROE, La. -- Sam McDaniel scored 16 points, Travis Munnings and Marvin Jean-Pierre each scored 14 and ULM beat Jackson State 65-52 on Tuesday night.
 
The trio combined to make 15 of the Warhawks' 22 field goals. ULM (3-3) shot 50 percent from the field which included 9-of-20 shooting from 3-point range. Jordon Harris missed just one of his five shots and scored 10 points.
 
ULM, winners of three of four -- never trailed. The Warhawks led 38-31 at halftime and Sam Alabakis' jumper with 15:24 left extended it to 45-35. Darius Austin made a pair of 3s to reduce the deficit to four but the Tigers couldn't get closer.
 
Paris Collins and Jeremiah Jefferson each scored 11 for Jackson State (2-5) -- winless on the road -- and Maurice Rivers scored 10. The Tigers were 18 of 58 (31 percent) from the field.
 
Marquetti's career night helps Louisiana beat McNeese 89-78
LAFAYETTE, La. -- Malik Marquetti scored a career-high 17 points with five 3-pointers, JaKeenan Gant added 16 points, and Louisiana made 11 3-pointers in defeating McNeese State 89-78 on Tuesday night.
 
Frank Bartley IV and Jonathan Stove scored 11 points apiece, Bryce Washington grabbed 11 rebounds, and Louisiana (5-2) scored 28 points off 16 Cowboys' turnovers.

Marcus Stroman's 3-pointer put Louisiana up for good, 7-6, and sparked a 16-0 run. The Cowboys closed on a 10-2 run in which Stephen Ugochukwu scored four, but Louisiana led 36-28 at halftime behind Gant's eight points after holding the Cowboys to 32 percent shooting from the floor.
 
Marquetti hit three straight 3s to open the second half and the Ragin' Cajuns led by 20 on Cedric Russell's 3 at the midway mark. The Cowboys closed to 87-78 on a 19-6 run capped by Kalob Ledoux's layup, but got no closer.
 
Ugochukwu scored 20 and grabbed 12 rebounds, Kalob Ledoux added 18 points, Jarren Greenwood 15, and Jacob Ledoux 14 for the Cowboys (3-4).
 
Tillman, Williams lead VCU past Appalachian St., 85-72
RICHMOND, Va. -- Justin Tillman scored 21 points and Jonathan Williams added 18 as VCU beat Appalachian State 85-72 on Tuesday night.
 
Khris Lane added 17 for the Rams (4-3), who led 46-45 at halftime and opened the second half on a 19-9 run. That gave them a 65-54 lead with 11:44 to play, and they never let the Mountaineers closer than nine the rest of the way.
 
Ronshad Shabazz led Appalachian State with 19 points and Justin Forrest had 12. The Mountaineers committed 19 turnovers against VCU's pressure and were outscored 21-4 off their mistakes.

Williams also had seven assists for the Rams, but after coming into the game 6 for 41 in his career from 3-point range, he hit 4 of 6 tries against the Mountaineers, the last when he scooped up a pass in the right corner with the shot clock racing down and swished it, giving VCU a 76-62 lead with six minutes remaining.
