Chants Fall at Georgetown
Washington - Coastal Carolina's men's soccer team traveled to the nation's capital to face the Hoyas of Georgetown and the hosts came out on top of the Chanticleers 3-0.
Georgetown scored twice in the first 45 minutes, the first on a penalty kick from Chris Lema during the 16th minute of action.
The score stayed that way until the 43rd minutes when Lema and Peter Schropp hooked up for the Hoyas second goal to make the halftime score 2-0.
Georgetown (2-0) scored once more in the second half as Jacob Montes scored the final goal of the match in the 80th minute.
The Chants (0-2) had 10 shots for the game with two of those on goal. Frantzdy Pierrot had three while Sam Strong and Yazeed Matthews had two shots each.
Braulio Linares-Ortiz played all 90 minutes in goal picking up six saves.
The Chants will open the home portion of the 2017 season when they host UNC Greensboro Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The match is part of a CCU soccer double header as the women will host Winthrop at 5 p.m.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Howard University men's soccer team was blanked by UMBC, 3-0, on Monday night at the Retriever Soccer Park.
The loss moved the Bison to 0-2 early in the season, while the Retrievers improved to 2-0.
Andres Gomez took two shots on the night and put both on target. Joel Pagan and Robert Davis tallied one attempt apiece.
Net-minder Carlos Caro earned seven saves during his 90 minutes in goal.
The Bison were plagued by bad luck as they gave up a pair of tallies to UMBC off own goals.
Overall, HU was outshot by the Retrievers, 20-4.
Howard continues its road swing at Yale on Sunday, Sept. 3. Action is set to start at 1 p.m.
