STATESBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Gonzalo Talavera's rocket shot with six seconds remaining in regulation propelled the Georgia Southern men's soccer team to the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings with the Eagles' 1-0 victory over visiting Appalachian State on Saturday evening at Eagle Field.
Georgia Southern (6-5-3, 2-0-1 Sun Belt) now sits alone atop the league standings with seven points, while Appalachian State (7-5-3, 1-1-1 Sun Belt) remains in third place with four points.

Georgia State 4, Coastal Carolina 3
ATLANTA – After netting four goals in the first half, Georgia State men’s soccer held off a second-half rally from defending Sun Belt Champion Coastal Carolina and earned a 4-3 victory on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex. The win boosted GSU to 9-5-2 on the year and a perfect 2-0-2 record in the Sun Belt – the first time since the 1989 season the Panthers have finished undefeated in conference play. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina moved to 8-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the league. Sunday’s win was also the first time since 1981 Georgia State has beaten the Chanticleers in men's soccer.
