No. 1 Texas State Blanks No. 8 Troy, 1-0, to Advance to Semifinals

FOLEY, Ala. - Junior Kaylee Davis, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, scored her 17th-goal this season as top-seeded Texas State knocked off No. 8 Troy, 1-0, in the second quarterfinal of the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship on Wednesday at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala.

Davis headed in the shot off a double-assist from Haley Groff and Genesis Turman. Groff dribbled the ball into the attack zone and quickly passed it off to Turman who placed a cross to the right side of the box where Davis would then head in the shot past Troy keeper Acelya Aydogmus.

The goal came in the matches 63rd-minute after a 0-0 first half between the teams.

With the win, Texas State (11-5-2) advances to Friday's semifinals to take on No. 5 South Alabama. Troy closes out the season at 5-14-1.

The Bobcats outshot the Trojans, 15-5, and 6-2 with shots on goal. Heather Martin, the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, recorded her eighth shutout this season in the win.

Davis had five shots on the day, four of which were on goal.
