- Sophomore Gonzalo Talavera and freshman Edward Raji each tallied their first goals of the season to lead Georgia Southern men's soccer to a 2-1 Sun Belt Conference win over host Howard University on Saturday afternoon at Greene Stadium in Washington, D.C. The Eagles improved to 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Sun Belt with the victory, while Howard fell to 1-5-3 overall and 0-1 in the league with the loss. 

Georgia State 0, Appalachian State 0 (F/2OT)
BOONE, N.C.
– Georgia State men’s soccer opened Sun Belt play with a 0-0 draw against Appalachian State Saturday night at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex, the second consecutive match the Panthers and Mountaineers have ended in a scoreless tie. GSU moved to 6-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play while Appalachian State went to 6-2-2 on the year and 0-0-1 in the Sun Belt. Saturday was Georgia State’s first draw in a conference opening match since the 2008 season.

– Yazeed Matthews had a goal and two assists in leading Coastal Carolina to a 5-1 win over USC Upstate in men's soccer action.
