CHARLESTON, S.C. – Justin Forrest poured in a season-high 28 points, but Appalachian State men's basketball fell to Wichita State 82-76 on the second day of the Charleston Classic. Forrest went 9-of-15 (60.0 percent) from the field and 4-of-5 (80.0 percent) from beyond the arc. He also pulled down a season-best seven rebounds (three offensive) and dished out two assists. Ronshad Shabazz added 17 points and recorded a season-best five rebounds. Hunter Seacat tied his career-high with nine points, while adding four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Manhattan 55, Coastal Carolina 53
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – For the second consecutive game Coastal Carolina fell in a close game in a 55-53 defeat at the hands of Manhattan. The Chanticleers had their chances in the game, but 24 turnovers and a poor shooting performance doomed the Chants late in the game.
Georgia Southern 80, Florida Atlantic 70
NASSAU, Bahamas – Montae Glenn posted his 10th career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Georgia Southern to an 80-70 men's basketball win over Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase Friday evening in Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium.
Kansas 89, Louisiana 76
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Udoka Azubuike scored six of his 17 points on three straight possesions late in the second half and Lagerald Vick scored a career-high 33 points as No. 2-ranked Kansas erased a 12-point deficit and withstood a second-half rally to earn an 89-76 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Friday before a sellout crowd of 16,300 at Allen Fieldhouse.
South Alabama 73, Chattanooga 54
MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama junior Josh Ajayi had 23 points and 12 rebounds and the Jaguars used a 25-9 run at the end of the first half to defeat Chattanooga 73-54 Friday night at the Mitchell Center. Ajayi nearly had a double-double in the second half alone with 15 points and nine boards, and scored 10 points (in 18 attempts) from the free-throw line.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 73, UTA 67
ARLINGTON, Texas – Despite a near career-high 26 points from Brian Warren, the UT Arlington men's basketball team (2-1) let a double-figure lead slip away due to a poor 2nd-half performance on Friday night against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-1), resulting in a 73-67 setback at the College Park Center.
Grand Canyon 96, Arkansas State 72
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Ty Cockfield II scored a game-high 24 points but it was not enough as the Arkansas State men’s basketball team fell to Grand Canyon 96-72 Friday evening at the GCU Arena.
Nevada 87, Little Rock 59
RENO, Nev. – Rayjon Tucker led all players with 21 points, but the size and speed of Nevada proved too much for Little Rock as the Trojans fell to the sixth-ranked Wolf Pack 87-59 at Lawlor Events Center Friday evening. The loss was the first setback of the season for the Trojans, who fall to 2-1 overall, while Nevada improves to 3-0 on the year. The game also marked the first in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Classic for both teams.
