NEW ORLEANS – Senior Malik Benlevi scored a career-high for a second-straight game to lead the Panthers to an 80-76 win on the road at Tulane on Wednesday afternoon. Benlevi finished with 25 points, knocking down five 3-pointers to go along with five rebounds, four blocked shots, and four steals. A week ago to the day, the Savannah, Ga., native scored 24 points on eight 3-pointers against in-state foe Georgia in the Cayman Islands.
Central Arkansas 78, Little Rock 65
CONWAY, Ark. – For the second-straight game, a second-half surge by an in-state rival does in Little Rock as the Trojans fall 78-65 to Central Arkansas at the Farris Center Wednesday evening. The loss is the second-straight in the series for the Trojans against the Bears as Little Rock drops to 3-4 on the year with Central Arkansas now sitting at 3-4 on the year as well.
Louisiana 77, New Orleans 73 (ot)
NEW ORLEANS – Justin Miller and Cedric Russell each scored five points in overtime and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team rallied from a 14-point deficit in the first half to defeat in-state rival New Orleans, 77-73, on Wednesday at Lakefront Arena.
Southern Miss 71, South Alabama 67
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Down 16 points early, the University of South Alabama men's basketball team came back to take the lead but went cold late in a 71-67 defeat to Southern Miss Wednesday night at Reed Green Coliseum.
Texas State 74, Rice 60
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team never trailed as it defeated Rice (3-5) 74-60 in Strahan Arena Wednesday night. With the win, the Bobcats (6-1) are off to their best start since the 1980-81 season.
