Georgia State's Drake, Texas State's Rupp Earn All-America Honors

All-America Award Releases: NFCASenior CLASS Award

NEW ORLEANS – Georgia State senior catcher/first base Ivie Drake and Texas State senior pitcher Randi Rupp grabbed two All-America honors Wednesday from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and Senior CLASS Award®.

Drake was named to the 2018 NFCA All-America first team, while Rupp was honored by the organization on its third team. Both were named to the 2018 Senior CLASS Award® All-America second team in softball.

Drake, the Sun Belt's Player of the Year and four-time All-Sun Belt selection, led the Sun Belt in batting average (.409), slugging percentage (.862), RBI (60), home runs (18), walks (47) and total bases (137) this season. She closed her career as the Sun Belt’s all-time leader in hits and walks and in the career top six in runs, doubles, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. She is the only active player in Division I with at least 50 career homers and a .400 batting average.

Rupp, the league's two-time Pitcher of the Year and four-time, first-team All-Sun Belt pick, finished her senior season second in the nation in strikeouts (317) in 278.1 innings in the circle, giving her 300-plus strikeouts in three consecutive seasons. She concluded the season with a 1.26 ERA, the second-lowest mark of her illustrious career. In Sun Belt play, Rupp lowered her ERA to 0.55, allowing only nine earned runs in 115.0 innings of work. The Mont Belvieu, Texas closed her career as the Sun Belt’s all-time leader in appearances (187), games started (169), innings pitched (1,057.1) and shutouts (42).
