Men's Soccer Recaps and Scores - August 28

La Salle 2, Howard 1
PHILADELPHIA
Coach Phillip Gyua and the Howard University Men's Soccer team suffered their first setback of the season with a 2-1 decision in favor of LaSalle.

With the loss, HU drops to .500 (1-1) on the young season while the Explorers (1-0) grabbed their first win of the year.

In a contest where both teams combined for only 12 shots, Howard capitalized on one of their three attempts, thanks to senior Victor Guirma.

Louisville 1, Georgia State 0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Georgia State men’s soccer team dropped a tough battle at No. 9 Louisville 1-0 Tuesday night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.

GSU (0-2-0) struggled to generate much offense against the stingy Cardinal defense, finishing the night with only two total shots. Both shots – one from Hannes Burmeister and another from Liam Fitzsimmons – were on target but saved by the Louisville keeper.

The Cardinals (2-0-0), ranked ninth in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, ended with 13 total shots and six on goal. Louisville scored the lone goal of the match in the fifth minute and was able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the match.
