Hawaii 3, Coastal Carolina 0
HONOLULU – The Chanticleer women's volleyball team fell to 1-3 on the young season as Coastal Carolina opened up a two-match series with the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine in the Stan Sheriff Center by the score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18). The theme of the match was the offensive struggles as the Chanticleers hit .019.

Marshall 3, Georgia State 0
Loyola-Chicago 3, Georgia State 0

CHICAGO
– Georgia State volleyball dropped a pair of matches Saturday in the Rambler Challenge. The Panthers fell by a score of 3-0 to both Marshall and Loyola-Chicago. GSU fell in the first half of the doubleheader 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) to Marshall. The Panthers dropped the match despite holding the Herd to a .187 hitting percentage in the match. GSU would not fair better in the second match of the day falling, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18 in straight sets to Loyola-Chicago.

Creighton 3, Arkansas State 0
DALLAS
– The Arkansas State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 13-25, 26-28) contest to No. 15 Creighton to open the SMU Doubletree Classic Friday morning at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. Carlisa May led the Red Wolves (2-2) with 14 kills, while Creighton (2-2) was led by Jaali Winters’ 17. The Bluejays out hit A-State .269-.091 and had 9.5 blocks to the Red Wolves’ nine. Tatum Ticknor led the team with 12 digs, while Timber Terrell had a solid defensive effort with six blocks, one shy of her career high. Peyton Uhlenhake played one set but tallied four kills in four attempts.

Georgia Tech 3, South Alabama 2
Wofford 3, South Alabama 1

ATLANTA
– The University of South Alabama volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Friday to close play at the Hyatt Regency Invitational. USA (1-5) fell to Georgia Tech in five sets Friday morning before falling in four sets to Wofford Friday afternoon at O'Keefe Gym on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Southeast Missouri State 3, ULM 0
Northwestern State 3, ULM 2

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The ULM volleyball met its match today at Southeast Missouri's Redhawk Invitational on Friday (Aug. 31). The Warhawks dropped both games on day one of the two-day tournament, first to host-team Southeast Missouri 3-0, and then to in-state rival Northwestern State 3-2.

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball made its home debut on Friday and began play in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic at historic Earl K. Long Gym with straight set sweeps of Mississippi Valley State and Nicholls. Louisiana (4-1) made quick work of MVSU, firing off a .452 hitting percentage in completing the sweep (25-10, 25-4, 25-6) in 53 minutes. In the nightcap the Ragin' Cajuns weathered advances from Nicholls, overcoming deficits all three sets, before eventually scoring the sweep (25-21, 26-24, 25-22).

Little Rock 3, Samford 1
OXFORD, Miss.
– For the first time all season, Little Rock found itself on the short end at the end of a set, dropping its opener to Samford at the Rebel Invitational. But that defeat proved to provide a spark for the Trojans, who rattled off wins in the next three sets to take the 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-9 victory over the Bulldogs.

Troy 3, Stetson 2
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Troy volleyball battled back from several Stetson match points to clinch an exciting five-set victory over the Hatters to open the Blue Raider Bash hosted by Middle Tennessee. The Trojans improved to 3-1 this year, the best program start since the 2014 season – Troy won eight of its first nine that season. Sophomore Cheyenne Hayes led the Trojans with a career-high 18 kills.

Arkansas 3, Georgia Southern 0
MINNEAPOLIS – Arkansas sophomore Hailey Dirrigl tallied 10 kills and seven digs to lead the Razorbacks to a 3-0 volleyball win over Georgia Southern in the Diet Coke Classic at Maturi Pavilion Friday night. Carly Turner led the Eagles (0-4) with seven kills to go along with two digs. 

Appalachian State 3, Davidson 0
BOONE, N.C. – Four players recorded at least eight kills as Appalachian State volleyball improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Davidson on the first day of the Appalachian Invitational.The Mountaineers have now posted four straight 3-0 victories for the first time since 2014. App State also has won its first four contests to open a season since the 2014 campaign. It also marks the first time in program history that Appalachian State has opened with the season with four straight sweeps.

UTA 3, Air Force 0
ARLINGTON, Texas – UTA sent its winning streak in home openers to 10 consecutive after a hot start propelled the Mavericks to a sweep over Air Force in Day 1 action of the 2018 Maverick Classic at College Park Center. Behind a quick attack that was led by Madison Hill's team-high 12 kills, UTA improved to 1-3 on the season after opening the season on the road last weekend.

Texas State 3, James Madison 1
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team defeated James Madison 3-1 (25-14, 25-12, 16-25, 26-24) on the second day of the 2018 Creeds & Crests Classic Friday night inside Strahan Arena. The Bobcats (2-3) have won both matches inside their newly-renovated home, while the Dukes (4-2) suffered just their second loss of the season. JMU entered play as the No. 13-ranked team in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll and has competed in the NCAA Championship each of the past two years.

– The Arkansas State volleyball squad had 38 combined attack and service errors in a 3-0 (29-31, 22-25, 14-25) setback against SMU Friday night at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas in both teams’ second match of the SMU Doubletree Classic.
