TUSCALOOSA, Ala.
– The University of South Alabama volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the Crimson-White Tournament at Foster Auditorium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. USA (6-6) fell to No. 25 Alabama in four sets (21-25, 25-17, 15-25, 19-25) before sweeping Southern Miss in straight sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-21) to close the opening day of the tournament.

Georgia Southern 3, USC Upstate 1

STATESBORO, Ga.
– Georgia Southern middles Lauren Reichard and Lauren Hager combined for 29 kills and 18 blocks in the nightcap to lead the Eagles to two wins Friday in the GATA Challenge in Hanner Fieldhouse.,GS topped USC Upstate 3-1 in the evening match and defeated Savannah State 3-0 in the morning.

GREENVILLE, S.C.
 -- Appalachian State volleyball swept past Winthrop 29-27, 29-27, 25-20 to close out its 2018 non-conference slate on Friday afternoon in Greenville, S.C. The Mountaineers end their non-conference season with an 8-4 mark.

– Little Rock dropped a pair of hard-fought matches in the Big Easy, taking part in the AllState Sugar Bowl Volleyball Classic. The Trojans fell to host Tulane 15-25, 25-16, 22-25, 28-26, 13-15, then dropped a 24-26, 23-25, 22-25 decision to Clemson an hour later.

SAN DIEGO
– Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball fell just short of extending its match against 16th-ranked USC on Friday at the SDSU/USD Challenge. The Ragin' Cajuns (7-5) and Trojans (7-3) battled through 12 ties and a pair of lead changes in the third set. Kills from Desiree Johnson and Dree'Ana Abram allowed Louisiana to keep pace in the late stages, drawing ties at 20-and 21-all. USC, though, was able to fend off Louisiana's push, winning the final three rallies to complete the 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-22) victory.

TEMPE, Ariz.
– The Texas State volleyball team took down Gonzaga 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-15) Friday afternoon on the first day of the 2018 Sparky Classic Presented by DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Tempe. The Bobcats improved to 7-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs fell to 3-6

CLINTON, S.C.
– Georgia State volleyball relied on their senior leadership in a tight 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23) victory over Presbyterian College Friday afternoon in Clinton. Seniors Crystal Lee, Sarah Renner, Shae Chapman, and Anna Rantala all stuffed the stat sheet in the Panther win.

JONESBORO, Ark.
– The Arkansas State volleyball team was pushed to five sets by Southern Illinois, but prevailed in a 3-2 (25-17, 25-27, 25-22, 22-25, 15-4) victory Friday night at the A-State Invitational being held inside First National Bank Arena.

ULM 3, Grambling State 0
MONROE, La. – It's been quite some time since a win felt this good. In fact, for the ULM volleyball program, it's been 679 days since the Warhawks yelled victory in Fant-Ewing Coliseum. On Friday, first year head coach Russ Friedland and his Warhawks swept I-20 rival Grambling State in front of nearly 500 fans.

UTA 3, Grand Canyon 1
ARLINGTON, Texas –  UTA stretched its winning streak to five matches in a row in topping Grand Canyon 3-1 on Friday night at College Park Center to open the Maverick Invitational. It was an offensive outburst that featured four Mavericks reaching double figures, led by a season-high 14 kills from senior Zhanelle Geathers. The win pushed the Mavericks (5-3) to their longest winning streak since 2016, while Grand Canyon fell to 7-4 - topping Belmont in a sweep earlier in the tournament.

Kennesaw State 3, Troy 2
TROY, Ala.
– For the third Friday night in a row, Troy volleyball went to five sets in a tournament opener but fell to Kennesaw State in a heartbreaker to open the Troy Classic.
