Louisiana 1, Arkansas State 0
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team closed out its three-match homestand with a 1-0 victory over Arkansas State on Friday night at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
The victory moves Louisiana (3-7-2, 2-2-0 SBC) into a tie for third place in the Sun Belt Conference with six points in league play. The Ragin' Cajuns picked up their third clean sheet of the season limiting the Red Wolves (5-3-2, 2-1-0 SBC) to just four shots in the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Ryan notched her second shutout of the year with three saves on the night. Senior Sarah Kozlowski led the Louisiana attack with four of the squad's 12 shots in the contest.
Georgia Southern 7, ULM 2
On Friday afternoon, the Eagles took to the road to embark on the first of two matches away from home. The Eagles traveled to Monroe, Louisiana to face off against the Warhawks of ULM. The Blue and White scored three first half goals to defeat ULM 7-2.
The afternoon began with defender Ashton Adams scoring off a corner kick by Tyler Gordon. The senior combination linked up in the 29 minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. With just over five minutes left to play in the half, Maddie Klintworth found a pass from Frida Brattum and scored her second goal of the season to push the lead to two. Moments later Brooke Barrett netted her first career goal for the Eagles giving them a 3-0 lead. Two minutes later the Warhawks cut the lead to two after Rahel Zerazion cleaned up her own rebound and scored.
Texas State 1, Little Rock 1 (2OT)
Junior Kaylee Davis scored a little over 10 minutes into the match to extend her goal streak to five consecutive matches. However, the Texas State soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Little Rock Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
The Bobcats are now 5-5-1 overall and remain on top of the Sun Belt Conference standings at 3-0-1 while the Trojans are 6-3-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference play.
