Georgia Southern 24, No. 20 Appalachian State 21
BOONE, N.C. – Georgia Southern held on to upset No. 20-ranked Appalachian State 24-21 Thursday night in front of a nationally televised audience at Kidd Brewer Stadium. It was the first win for the Eagles in 12 years at The Rock and the second straight season knocking off the ranked Mountaineers.
 
Facing a potential game-winning drive, the Eagles defense stopped the Mountaineers on a fourth-down desperation play from the Georgia Southern 46-yard line for the win as time ran out.
