Williams’ 27 Points Leads Coastal to Record 9-1 Start
Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Senior guard DJ Williams had game-highs of 27 points and nine rebounds, as Coastal Carolina used a 19-0 run to begin the second half and coasted to an easy 76-65 win over Elon University Thursday night in the Carolinas College Challenge at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The win lifts the Chanticleers to a school-record start of 9-1 on the season with five consecutive victories, while Elon slips to 4-6 on the year.
Troy Women's Basketball Holds Off Late Toledo Run in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – Troy opened the 2019 South Point Holiday Hoops Classic with a nail-biting 71-64 victory over Toledo in its first game in the desert on Thursday afternoon. The win pushes the Trojans record to 8-2 on the year and extends its winning streak to five games.
Troy dominated the Toledo Rockets for nearly the entire first-half as they enjoyed a 17-point lead, its largest of the game, midway through the second-quarter before the Rockets put a scare into Troy late in the contest. The Trojans were paced throughout the contest by Kayla Robinson and Jasmine Robinson who combined to score 39 of Troy's 71 points, including 19 combined points in the second half.

With the loss, UTA falls to .500 on the year (5-5 overall), while Marist improves to 7-2 on the season.
Turnovers Doom Eagles In 62-48 Loss To Kent State in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS. - Georgia Southern committed 25 turnovers in the afternoon to help Kent State notch a 62-48 women's college basketball victory over the Eagles on Thursday in the first game of the 2019 Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic at South Point Arena.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 2-7 on the season, while Kent State improved to 6-3.
Polacek Scores Season-High 21 Points in Setback to Bethune-Cookman
DELAND, Fla. - Appalachian State women's basketball suffered a 61-44 decision to Bethune-Cookman on the first day of the Hatter Classic hosted by Stetson at the Edmunds Center.
The Mountaineers drop to 2-7 while the Wildcats move to 7-3. Appalachian will conclude the tournament with a 1 p.m. contest against Canisius tomorrow.
