TROY, Alabama – The back-and-forth battles between Troy and Central Michigan continued on Saturday, as the two squads split the Opening Weekend doubleheader at Riddle-Pace Field. The Trojans (2-1) took the first leg, 7-6, after trailing by five runs in the second inning. Then, in the nightcap, the Chippewas (1-2) earned their first victory under new head coach Jordan Bischel, 5-3.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State overcame an early five-run deficit to defeat Illinois-Chicago 9-5 and earn their first win of the season behind three hits and two runs batted in by Jake Corso and shutout relief by freshmen Seth Clark and Ryan Watson. The Panthers (1-2) fell to West Virginia 8-2 in the first game of Saturday's day-night doubleheader in the Atlanta Challenge at the GSU Baseball Complex.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Appalachian State Baseball held Tennessee's offense in check but lost 2-0 on Saturday against the Volunteers, who scored on a third-inning sacrifice fly and fifth-inning RBI groundout.

Texas 6, Louisiana 5
LAFAYETTE Louisiana displayed its resiliency after giving up a five-spot in the second inning and battled back into Saturday afternoon's game but came up just short in the bottom of the ninth as No. 23 Texas took the second game of the series, 6-5, at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Creighton 13, Little Rock 8
LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock found itself trailing early once again and mounted another late inning rally, but once again came up short in a 13-8 loss to Creighton Saturday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field.

Coastal Carolina 7, Maryland 2
Conway, S.C. – On a frigid Saturday evening, No. 21 Coastal Carolina led from start to finish in a 7-2 home win over the Maryland Terrapins of the Big Ten on day two of the Brittain Resorts Invitational at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

Georgia Southern 7, No. 15 Auburn 5 (13 inn.)
AUBURN, ALA. – On Saturday afternoon the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the bats were dancing in the racks for Eagle Baseball who took a 7-5 win over No. 15 Auburn in 13 innings. Freshman Noah Ledford hit a go-ahead solo home run in the 13th inning to give the Eagles the win and improve to 1-1 on the year. Georgia Southern and Auburn will close out the series on Sunday afternoon in a 2 p.m. (ET) matinee.

Arkansas State 11, Stephen F. Austin 2
Nacogdoches, Texas (2/16/19) – The Arkansas State baseball team belted four home runs in an 11-2 victory over Stephen F. Austin Saturday afternoon. The Red wolves improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Lumberjack’s fell to 1-1.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The offense for the Texas State baseball team was stifled by Nevada Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark in a 4-0 loss in the Texas State Tournament.
