ATLANTA – Georgia State defeated Arkansas State 76-60 in a dominant performance Thursday night at the GSU Sports Arena, securing its third-straight 20-plus win season. Jeff Thomas led five players in double figures for Georgia State (20-9, 11-5 Sun Belt) with 15 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. The Panthers hit 14 3-pointers for the game, connecting on 46.7 percent from long range.
Texas State 58, Troy 44
TROY, Ala. – Texas State (23-6, 12-4 Sun Belt) took care of Troy (11-16, 4-11) 58-44 Thursday night at Trojan Arena. The win gives the program its 23rd regular-season victory, setting the single-season mark for Texas State in the Division I era.
ULM 81, Appalachian State 75
MONROE, La. – ULM might have had an easy night of it if not for Ronshad Shabazz. Although ULM never found an answer to Shabazz's incredible shooting display on Thursday night, the Warhawks were able to deliver an 81-75 win over Appalachian State at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Louisiana 83, Coastal Carolina 70
LAFAYETTE, La. – JaKeenan Gant had 29 points as Louisiana topped Coastal Carolina 83-70 on Thursday night. Cedric Russell had 14 points for the Ragin' Cajuns (17-11, 8-7 Sun Belt ). Marcus Stroman added 13 points, eight assists and five steals. Jerekius Davis had seven rebounds for the hosts.
UTA 75, South Alabama 57
MOBILE, Ala. – UTA hit a season-high 15 3-pointers and defeated South Alabama 75-57 on Thursday night. Brian Warren led the Mavericks with four 3-pointers. Edric Dennis added four 3-pointers. Warren also had 18 points for the Mavericks, while Dennis added 15 points and six rebounds.
