MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Coastal Carolina goes over the century mark in an impressive 109-91 road win at West Virginia in a 2019 Roman College Basketball Invitational quarterfinal matchup on the Mountaineers' home court.
It was the first time this season Coastal Carolina (17-16, 9-9 Sun Belt) scored at least 100 points. West Virginia allowed its most points at home in program history, topping 107 by Notre Dame in 1971. Both teams set season records for scoring in the second half - Coastal Carolina totaled 59 second-half points and West Virginia put up 55 second-half points.
With the win, the Chanticleers move on to the semifinals to face DePaul in Chicago. It will be a quick turnaround with the game set for Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
DeVante Jones, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, went off for a career-high 32 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-8 from three-point land.
Jones was one of six Chanticleers in doubles figures. Tommy Burton had 16 points, Zac Cuthbertson added 15 points and Ebrima Dibba poured in 14 points and six assists.
Lamont West and Emmitt Matthews Jr. had 21 points apiece and Chase Harler had 15 points for the Mountaineers (15-21).
