LAFAYETTE, La. – The Texas State baseball team (31-13, 15-6 Sun Belt) never trailed all weekend and completed the series sweep of Louisiana (20-27, 8-13 Sun Belt) with a 10-8 victory Sunday afternoon at Russo Park. The Bobcats extended their winning streak to 10 games, the longest active streak in the nation.
Appalachian State 8, UT Arlington 4
BOONE, N.C. — Fans stood up from their seats and Appalachian State players darted away from the home dugout, but no one in Black and Gold was in a rush to leave Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium at the end of a record-setting weekend.
App State completed a home sweep of league-leading UTA with an 8-4 victory Sunday, prompting players to high-five near the mound as fans continued to stand and applaud the performance.
Georgia State 15, Coastal Carolina 11
ATLANTA -- Elian Merejo hit two home runs and drove in seven as Georgia State rallied from a 10-5 deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina 15-11 Sunday at the GSU Baseball Complex.
After Coastal Carolina (26-17-1, 11-9) scored in each of the first five innings to take a 10-5 lead, GSU (13-32, 4-17) outscored the Chanticleers 10-1 over the final four innings. Trey Horton allowed just one run over the final four innings to earn the victory for the Panthers, the first collegiate win for the sophomore right-hander.
South Alabama 6, Georgia Southern 2
STATESBORO, Ga. – Jaguar right-hander Drake Nightengale tied his career high in innings pitched and struck out 11 to lead the University of South Alabama baseball team to a 6-2 win over Georgia Southern in Sunday's series finale at J.I. Clements Stadium.
ULM 4, Arkansas State 2
Jonesboro, Ark. – Four ULM pitchers combined to limit Arkansas State to four hits, as the Warhawks picked up a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Kell Field at Tomlinson Stadium. ULM picked up a win in the weekend series in the process, two games to one.
Little Rock 4, Troy 3
LITTLE ROCK - Jose Torres' dominant performance on the mound accompanied by home runs from Riley Pittman and Ryan Benavidez led Little Rock to a 4-3 win over Troy to clinch the series victory Sunday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field.
