Baseball Recaps and Scores - April 30

Troy 20, Alabama State 5
Montgomery, Ala.
– Troy scored in eight of nine innings leading wire-to-wire in a dominate 20-5 win over Alabama State to complete the season sweep in non-conference baseball action at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday night.

ULM 11, Alcorn State 4
Monroe, La.
- It took until the bottom of the sixth inning, but once the ULM offense started rolling, it was hard to stop Tuesday night at Warhawk Field.

The Warhawks scored four runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, and then added five more in the eighth to pull away from Alcorn State 11-4.

Appalachian State 6, Western Carolina 3
BOONE, N.C.
— An unblemished beginning, coupled with a friendly bounce, propelled Appalachian State Baseball to a 6-3 home win against in-state rival Western Carolina on Tuesday night.

Making his first career start, sophomore right-hander Jason Cornatzer needed only 44 pitches to retire the first 14 batters as he took a perfect game into the fifth inning, and the Mountaineers (20-22) established a 3-0 lead on Riley Smith's three-run homer in the fourth inning. His flyball to left hit the top of the wall and ricocheted high into the air before clearing the fence with Joel McDaniel and Tyler Leek on base.

UTSA 8, Texas State 5
SAN ANTONIO
– The 10-game winning streak for 30th-ranked Texas State came to an end Tuesday night at Roadrunner Field as UTSA came away with an 8-5 win.

Dallas Baptist 7, UTA 1
ARLINGTON, Texas
– UTA couldn't get much going at the plate as they dropped their fifth consecutive game in a 7-1 loss to Dallas Baptist at Clay Gould Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The game started almost two hours after the scheduled start time because of a lightning delay.

Memphis 11, Arkansas State 9
Memphis, Tenn. (4/30/19)
– The Arkansas State baseball rallied from a seven-run deficit, but it wasn’t enough as it fell 11-9, Tuesday evening at FedEx Park. Following the loss, the Red Wolves dropped to 23-22 overall while Memphis improved to 22-20.
