Appalachian State 56, Charlotte 41
BOONE, N.C.  Appalachian State ended the first half even more impressively than the Mountaineers began it, resulting in some helpful separation during a 56-41 victory against Charlotte on Saturday.

Florida State 45, ULM 44 (ot)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
– Cam Akers had a program-record 36 carries, the final one a four-yard touchdown, as Florida State defeated ULM 45-44 in overtime on Saturday. Caleb Evans had a five-yard touchdown run just moments later but the Warhawks' Jacob Meeks missed the extra-point attempt.

Georgia Southern 26, Maine 18
STATESBORO, Ga.
– Matt LaRoche, Justin Tomlin and Logan Wright each rushed for more than 100 yards and Georgia Southern beat Maine 26-18 on Saturday.

Coastal Carolina 12, Kansas 7
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Coastal Carolina recorded its first-ever win over a Power 5 school in dramatic fashion on Saturday night, as the Chanticleers defeated the Kansas Jayhawks 12-7 at Memorial Stadium.

Georgia State 48, Furman 42
ATLANTA
– Before a crowd of 20,351 at Georgia State Stadium, the Panthers used a late fourth-quarter stop to hold on for a 48-42 win over Furman on Saturday night.

South Alabama 37, Jackson State 14
MOBILE, Ala.
– Tra Minter rushed for 189 yards and two scores to lead a record-setting effort by South Alabama  Saturday in a 37-14 non-conference football victory over Jackson State at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Wyoming 23, Texas State 14
SAN MARCOS, Texas  Texas State (0-2) could not hang on to a halftime lead and fell to the Wyoming Cowboys (2-0) by a score of 23-14 on Saturday evening at Bobcat Stadium.

Louisiana 35, Liberty 14
LAFAYETTE, La.
– Levi Lewis threw two touchdown passes to Ja'Marcus Bradley and ran for a third score as Louisiana scored four unanswered touchdowns to beat Liberty, 35-14, in the Ragin' Cajuns home opener Saturday night.

Arkansas State 43, UNLV 17
LAS VEGAS
– A scoring frenzy welcomed back Arkansas State head football coach Blake Anderson to the sidelines on Saturday night, as the Red Wolves posted their largest victory over a non-conference NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision opponent since 2011, trouncing UNLV 43-17 at Sam Boyd Stadium.
