Quick Start Powers Louisiana Past South Alabama, 73-68
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana got its offense going early and took a lead it would not relinquish as the Ragin' Cajuns picked up their third-straight win in a Sun Belt home opener with a 73-68 victory over South Alabama in the Cajundome.
Thursday's win marked the team's first home triumph against South Alabama since a 62-38 decision on Feb. 9, 2017, and improved the Ragin' Cajuns to 5-1 in the Cajundome this season, its best record at home through six games since posting the same mark during the 2016-17 campaign.
Collier’s Milestone, Battle's Double-Double Highlight Home Win
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Kyra Collier scored her 1,000th career point, Teal Battle registered her first career double-double and Little Rock secured its 37th consecutive home conference win in a 58-46 decision over Georgia Southern Thursday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
However, those accomplishments didn't come easy. Collier's 10th point – and really points for the Trojans (4-10, 2-1 Sun Belt) in general – did not come smoothly after Little Rock was just 2 of 19 (10.5 percent) in the first quarter. But the Trojans regrouped after the first frame, shooting 46.5 percent for the remainder of the game.
