Lewis Leads Panthers Past Warhawks
ATLANTA -- Jada Lewis scored a season-high 18 points to lead Georgia State past ULM 68-52 Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.
Georgia State trailed ULM 13-12 after the first quarter, but the Panthers went on a big 18-3 run to end the first half and never looked back. The win marks five in a row over the Warhawks.
Eagles Drill School-Record 14 Threes In 83-67 Sun Belt Win Over Louisiana
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern women's basketball team knocked down a school-record 14 three-pointers to move to 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play with an 83-67 win over Louisiana on Saturday at Hanner Fieldhouse.
The Eagles (5-8, 2-0 SBC) start conference play 2-0 for the first time in a decade, while Louisiana falls to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern also matched its season-long Sun Belt win totals from the previous two seasons.
Coastal Rebounds at South Alabama with 71-62 Victory on Saturday
Mobile, Ala. – Sophomore Aja Blount scored a game and career-high 38 points to lead the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team to a 71-62 win over South Alabama in Mobile, Ala. on Saturday. With the win, CCU improves to 11-2 overall and 1-1 in Sun Belt play while the Jaguars fell to 6-8 on the season and 1-1 in the conference.
Senior guard Caitlin Roche added 15 points in the game while fellow senior backcourt mate Torrie Cash chipped in six points, all in the first quarter.

ARLINGTON – Marie Benson scored a game-high 25 points to lead UTA to a huge 65-58 win over Sun Belt preseason favorite and defending SBC Tournament champion Little Rock at College Park Center on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Lady Mavs improve to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the league, while Little Rock falls to 3-10 on the season and 1-1 in the SBC. The win also marked UTA's first win over the Trojans since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2013-14 (had lost 10 in a row to the Trojans, including 4 straight at CPC) and the first win over Little Rock during Coach Krista Gerlich's tenure.
Resilient Red Wolves Claim Gutsy 56-53 Thriller At Texas State
SAN MARCOS, Texas (1/4/2020) – Stout defense and clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch made a difference for Arkansas State on Saturday, as the Red Wolves earned key defensive stops and hit five of six free throws in the last six seconds to take a 56-53 victory over Texas State at Strahan Arena.
A-State (4-9, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) forced the Bobcats (7-6, 0-2) into 17 turnovers and went 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) at the charity stripe en route to the victory, which halted a four-game losing skid and gave Matt Daniel his first conference win as the Red Wolves' head coach. The win over the Bobcats also ended a four-game losing streak in the series and improved A-State to 8-4 all-time against Texas State.
Troy Women's Basketball Completes Perfect Weekend with Win Over App State
TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball completed its opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play Saturday afternoon by defeating Appalachian State 84-55. The win improves Troy's record to 11-2 on the year and extends the Trojans' winning streak to eight games, which is tied for the second longest winning streak in program history.
When the game tipped off it looked like Troy and App State were headed for a tight contest throughout where neither team was able to go on any long runs as both teams kept traded baskets. Troy was the first team to put together back-to-back scoring plays as Amber Rivers and Alexus Dye hit consecutive jumpers to give Troy an early 9-5 advantage which then sparked a 9-0 run that allowed Troy to put a little distance between themselves and App State.
