JAGUAR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKS UP ROAD WIN AT ULM
MONROE, La. – Antoinette Lewis recorded game-high totals with 18 points and 11 rebounds to help lift the University of South Alabama to a 73-39 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball win Saturday over ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Kennedi Centers and Shaforia Kines chipped in with 12 points apiece as the Jaguars (12-11, 7-4 Sun Belt) shot 48.4 percent from the floor while turning the ball over just nine times.
Hamilton, Eagles Blitz Red Wolves In 80-67 Win On Saturday
STATESBORO - Freshman Jaiden Hamilton scored a career-high 25 points to help Georgia Southern women's basketball snap a three-game slide with an 80-67 Sun Belt Conference victory over visiting Arkansas State on Saturday afternoon in the program's annual Pack the House in Pink game at Hanner Fieldhouse.
The Eagles matched last year's overall win total by improving to 7-15, while moving to 4-7 in league play. Arkansas State tell to 9-13 overall and 6-5 in the Sun Belt with the loss. It was Georgia Southern's second win over the Red Wolves since joining the league in 2014-15 and also halted a five-game slide to Arkansas State.
Georgia State Women's Basketball Wins Again at Home
ATLANTA – Georgia State's women's basketball team won its second game in a row at home Saturday with a 58-43 victory over Little Rock at the GSU Sports Arena.
Taylor Hosendove was one of four Panthers to finish in double figures. The sophomore posted a career-high 23 points with nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Troy Women's Basketball Earns Narrow Victory at Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy women's basketball was tested on the road Saturday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 67-64 victory over Louisiana. The win avenges Troy's only Sun Belt loss of the season and improves the Trojans record to 19-3 overall and 10-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
For the second time this season Troy and Louisiana went back-and-forth from the opening tip, with neither team being able to grab ahold of the game and put the other team away. Troy led the game for over 35 minutes but Louisiana never went away. In the contest there were six ties with 10 lead changes, eight of those lead changes came in the fourth-quarter. The Trojans largest lead of the game was just nine, earned in the first couple seconds of the third-quarter, while Louisiana's largest lead was just two, earned late in the third-quarter. After winning the first time two quarters by a combined seven points, Troy was outscored by two points in each of the final two quarters.
App's Stingy Defense Leads to Win for Women's Basketball
SAN MARCOS, Texas - App State women's basketball completed the season sweep of Texas State with a 59-47 win on Saturday afternoon in the Strahan Center.
The Mountaineers improve to 7-15 (4-7 SBC) after their fourth straight win over the Bobcats, while TXST falls to 8-14 and 1-10 in league action.
Chanticleers Cruise Past UTA 80-62 on Saturday Afternoon
Arlington, Texas – Seniors DJ Williams, Caitlin Roche, Naheria Hamilton, and Torrie Cash all reached double figures in points to lead the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team to its 11th double-digit victory of the season. The Chanticleers won easily 80-62 over UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday.
With the win, Coastal improved to 19-3 overall on the season and a 9-2 mark in the Sun Belt, while UTA fell to 13-10 on the year and 7-4 in conference action.
