Coastal Carolina's DeVante' Jones Named Sun Belt Men's Basketball Player of the Week for 2nd Time

DeVante' Jones continued his monster season for Coastal Carolina (11-3, 5-2), averaging 23.5 points per game leading CCU to a weekend series sweep of Troy. The junior guard shot 56.5% from the field and 62.5% on his three-point attempts. He was 16 of 17 from the free throw line in the two wins. Jones added eight assists and eight steals, including five in Saturday's win. He stepped up when it counted the most, scoring 24 of his game-high 30 points in the second half to lead the Chanticleers to a come-from-behind 90-81 win over Sun Belt Conference foe Troy on Friday night at the HTC Center. Jones hit a pair of free throws to put Coastal in front to stay at 80-78 with two minutes remaining, and then hit six more free throws down the stretch to lift Coastal to a 10-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in league play. Jones was 9-of-11 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line. He also had eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. On Saturday, Jones scored 17 points (16 of which were in the second half) as Coastal Carolina hung on for a 70-65 win over Troy. Jones is leading the Sun Belt with a 22.4 scoring average.
