NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt announced its men's basketball player of the week on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jalen Thomas scored career-highs in three straight wins for Georgia State to help move the Panthers into second place in the Sun Belt Conference East Division. Thomas averaged 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the floor. The senior from Detroit opened the week with a 15 point game on 6-of-10 shooting, while pulling down four rebounds in 30 minutes of action in an 80-66 win over Troy. On Saturday, he eclipsed that career high by one, scoring 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while knocking down all four of his free throw attempts. He added five rebounds and a steal in 33 minutes. On Tuesday, he continued his hot play, scoring a new career-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while pulling down eight rebounds as the Panthers won for the fourth-straight time, topping Appalachian State 85-71. For the season, Thomas is averaging 9.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor.
