MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The top seeds each completed the sweeps of their respective pools at the 2021 Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Baseball Championship presented by Troy University in Montgomery, Alabama. 
 
No. 2-seeded UTA downed Troy, 11-5, and No. 2-seeded Georgia Southern topped ULM, 9-5, in Friday play to advance to Saturday’s semifinals with unblemished 2-0 pool records. 

No. 1-seeded South Alabama will take on No. 2-seed UTA in the first semifinal at 12 p.m. CT Saturday, with No. 1-seeded Louisiana against No. 2-seed Georgia Southern to follow at 4 p.m. CT. 

Game 11 – No. 2 UTA def. No. 3 Troy, 11-5
Sun Belt West Division co-champion UTA compiled a six-run first inning en route to an 11-5 win over Troy to sweep Pool D play and advance to Saturday’s semifinals. 
 
Connor Aube led the way for the Mavericks offensively, plating the first run of the contest with a single to center field in the top of the first and hitting a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth. The senior outfielder was 2-for-4 on the day, with three runs scored, two RBIs and the aforementioned yard ball. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Jarod Seals picked up the win on the hill, in a game in which UTA trotted nine different pitchers out to the mound. 

With the victory, UTA moves to 9-10 all-time in Sun Belt Championship play. 
 
Game 12 – No. 2 Georgia Southern def. No. 3 ULM, 9-5
Georgia Southern plated multiple runs in each of the first three innings to post a 9-5 win over ULM and sweep Pool B play on its way to Saturday’s semifinals. 
 
Outfielder Mason McWhorter, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, opened the scoring for the Eagles with a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the first. The graduate student went on to a 3-for-3 outing, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Connor Bruce earned the win on the mound for Georgia Southern. 

Georgia Southern moves to 11-7 in Sun Belt Championship action all-time following the victory.
 
The 2021 Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Baseball Championship presented by Troy University continues Saturday, with semifinal action beginning at 12 p.m. CT.
