NEW ORLEANS – James Madison’s Lexi Vanderlinden and Alexandra Blom have earned Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Player of the Week accolades after leading the Dukes to a 1-0-1 week in conference action and top spot in the rankings with 14 overall points.

Dukes’ redshirt sophomore midfielder Lexi Vanderlinden assisted on all three goals in a pivotal 3-1 win over Texas State, who is currently number one in the west. The Seminole, Fla. native followed the performance with a defensive effort in a 0-0 draw with South Alabama, who is currently number two in the west. Vanderlinden’s multi-assist match is the first since 2019 and the 14
th time in program history a player tallied three assists.
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Dukes’ redshirt junior goalkeeper Alexandra Blom totaled eight saves in two matches against the top pair of teams in the west division. The Degerfors, Sweden native has totaled seven shutouts on the season with the three save performance against South Alabama, who were held scoreless for just the second time in conference action. Blom extended a streak of 576:55 consecutively without allowing a goal in the run of play and a defense that ranks number one in the country in goals against average at 0.357.
