Arkansas State Wins Second Consecutive Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Championship

FOLEY, Ala. – The Arkansas State men won the 2022 Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Championship on Friday at Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley. It marked the second consecutive year the Red Wolves' earned the Sun Belt Conference Title. 

South Alabama’s Kirami Yego claimed back-to-back men’s individual 8K titles with a time of 22:55.9. Yego is a third-year runner for the Jaguars who was a five-time Sun Belt Cross Country Runner of the Week in 2021-22. Yego broke the previous record that was held by Nicholas Aliwell from Western Kentucky that was set in 1996 at 23:25.48 

The Arkansas State men repeated as team champions for their second title in program history. The Red Wolves scored 32 points, while App State was second with 46 and South Alabama was third with 58. Marshall (97) and Louisiana (139) also finished in the top-five.
