Williams' Clutch Effort Sends Georgia State to Hercules Tires Sun Belt Basketball Championship Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Senior guard Kane Williams carried the Panthers across the finish line in a 65-62 quarterfinal win over No. 6-seeded Arkansas State at the Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championship.

Williams scored the last eight points for No. 3-seeded Georgia State over the final 3:37 and came up with a game-sealing steal after Arkansas State had called a timeout to draw up a final play in the one-possession contest.

Williams netted a game-high 23, outpacing Sun Belt Player of the Year Arkansas State freshman forward Norchad Omier—who turned in a 21-point, 17-rebound outing for yet another double-double.

With the victory, Georgia State advances to the tournament semifinals—where it will take on the winner of No. 10-seeded Georgia Southern and No. 2-seeded App State at 7:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 6.

Panther senior forward Eliel Nsoseme turned in a double-double effort in his tournament opener with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
