Sun Belt Conference Announces 2021-22 Academic Honors

The Sun Belt Conference placed more than 2,000 student-athletes to the Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll for the 2021-22 school year. Those recognized included 1,157 student-athlete on the Commissioner’s List and 868 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll. 

The Commissioner's List honors student-athletes who earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or better during the 2021-22 academic year while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.00 and 3.49 for the academic year.

“We celebrate the academic achievements of these remarkable student-athletes,” said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. “We’re extremely proud of their ability to shine at academics while competing in their sports at the highest level.”

Sun Belt student-athletes charted a combined average GPA of 3.19 for the 2021-22 academic year. Georgia State led the way with an athletic program average GPA of 3.34, followed by South Alabama at 3.26. 

All Sun Belt programs in the sports of women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s soccer and volleyball boasted an average GPA of 3.0 or better. 

Across the entire Sun Belt Conference, women’s golf student-athletes recorded the highest collective GPA at 3.57, followed by women’s tennis at 3.50.
