NEW ORLEANS – Marshall’s Matthew Bell and Oliver Semmle led their team to a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Pitt on Friday evening to earn Sun Belt Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.

Matthew Bell played a huge role in No. 11 Marshall’s win over No. 2 Pitt on Friday night with his first multi-goal performance. The Kingston, Jamaica, native, tallied his first goal of the contest in the 15
th minute, cutting into the box with a pass down the left wing from Adam Aoumaich and finding the back of the net off the right post. Bell stuck once again in the 27
th minute, taking another pass from Aoumaich and slotting a shot past the keeper for the game-winning goal. Bell is currently tied for the conference lead in goals (3) and points (6), while sitting in second behind teammate Milo Yosef in total shots (11).
Defensive Player of the Week
Oliver Semmle, Marshall

Oliver Semmle stopped five of the six shots he faced in the 2-1 victory over No. 2 Pitt. The Au am Rhein, Germany, native made a pair of saves in the first half before coming up with three in the second. The graduate keeper made two key stops in the final 11 minutes of the match to cement the win.
