NEW ORLEANS – App State junior forward Tre’Von Spillers has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Mountaineers reclaim first place in the league’s standings with a pair of home wins.
The Charleston, S.C., native averaged a double-double comprising 20.5 points and 11 rebounds per game while shooting 19-for-24 (.731) from the floor. Spillers made 10 shots en route to tallying a season-best 23 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the year in a 76-68 win over Georgia State on Jan. 17. He concluded the week with 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting while adding nine boards and two blocks in an 88-59 victory over Coastal Carolina on Jan. 20.
Spillers currently ranks fifth nationally in field goal percentage (.646), and in Sun Belt Conference games alone, he is averaging 15.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
Spillers becomes the first App State player to garner the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor since Adrian Delph in January 2022.
