NEW ORLEANS – Marshall junior forward Nate Martin has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging a double-double while helping the Thundering Herd to a pair of league wins.
Martin native averaged 19.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting over 71 percent from the floor. The Houston, Texas native tallied 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists for his 10th double-double of the season in a 77-68 win over Georgia State on Jan. 24. He followed up that performance with a career-high 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two blocks while shooting 9-for-11 from the field to pace the Herd in an 83-67 home win over Southern Miss on Jan. 27.
Martin currently ranks eighth nationally in double-doubles with 11 this season, while standing 15th in offensive rebounds per game (3.6) and 27th in total rebounds per contest (9.6)
