NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the bracket for the league’s 2024 Women’s Soccer Championship on Thursday evening.
The tournament will be contested November 4-9 at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala., marking the ninth consecutive year the women’s soccer championship will be conducted at the site. Each of the tournament’s seven matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
James Madison won its first Sun Belt regular season title to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Dukes compiled a conference-leading 26 points with an 8-0-2 record in those contests while clinching the East Division. James Madison reached the championship match in each the last two seasons as the No. 4 seed in 2022 and the No. 5 seed in 2023.
South Alabama earned the No. 2 seed in the draw after winning the West Division for the third consecutive season by accumulating 14 divisional points with a 4-0-2 mark against those teams. The Jaguars head to Foley hunting their first conference tournament title since 2021 after reaching the semifinals in each of the previous two seasons.
Texas State recorded the second-most conference points (21) and wins in conference play (6), as its 12 West Division points ranked two behind South Alabama’s total to give the Bobcats the No. 3 seed in the draw. They will take on No. 6 seed App State in the first round after defeating the Mountaineers, 1-0, in their final regular season road match on Oct. 27.
Winners of the last two Sun Belt Championships, Old Dominion earned the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed Georgia State which closed the season with four-consecutive victories.
