Marshall, West Virginia Set to Compete in NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament

NEW ORLEANS – For a third straight year the Sun Belt has received multiple bids into the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.  Marshall (11-1-7) received the 13th seed and West Virginia (12-1-7) will play North Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
With a first-round bye, Marshall will face the winner of Furman and North Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hoops Family Field. This is the Herd’s sixth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
 
The Mountaineers and Ospreys will meet at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 21, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The winner of Thursday’s contest will head to Charlottesville to face No. 11-seed Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 24.
 
West Virginia won the Sun Belt regular season title and defeated Marshall in the Sun Belt Tournament Championship, taking the title 6-5 in penalty kicks. This is the Mountaineers second consecutive NCAA appearance and third in the last four years.
 
All first-round games will be played Thursday, Nov. 21, on campus sites, while all second-round action will take place Sunday, Nov. 24.
