NEW ORLEANS – After falling below the roster minimum that was deemed medically safe, Sun Belt champion Marshall has opted out of its Saturday, Dec. 28, matchup with No. 22 Army in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.
“We appreciate our partnership with the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, which has enabled us to expand postseason opportunities for Sun Belt football student-athletes since 2022,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill. “We apologize for the nature and timing of this announcement and for the turmoil it has brought to Bowl Season preparations for Army, the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, the American Athletic Conference and ESPN.”
ULM (2012) and Louisiana (2022) have previously represented the Sun Belt in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.
American Athletic Conference champion Army (11-1, 8-0 AAC) will now take on Louisiana Tech (5-7, 4-4 CUSA) in this year’s Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl at 9:15 p.m. ET/8:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La.
