NEW ORLEANS – For the third time this season, James Madison swingman Terrence Edwards Jr. has been named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
An Atlanta native, Edwards averaged 23.5 points, four rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 8-for-13 (.615) from 3-point range and 100 percent at the free throw line on 19 attempts to lead the Dukes to a pair of home wins in conference play.
Edwards started the week with his eighth 20-point scoring effort of the season with 28 in James Madison’s 83-63 rout of Georgia State on Feb. 15. He shot 6-for-15 overall, 4-for-7 beyond the arc and 12-for-12 at the foul stripe to go with four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. He concluded the week with 19 points, four boards and three more assists while netting four more treys in the Dukes’ 87-80 victory over Georgia Southern on Feb. 17.
Edwards also received the league’s top weekly honor on Nov. 14 and Dec. 27. Louisiana’s Jordan Brown (4) and Marshall’s Taevion Kinsey (3) were the last Sun Belt players to garner the recognition at least three times in the same season which occurred in 2022-23.
