NEW ORLEANS – Marshall junior Tyler Jones been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week following a top-five finish in tournament play for the Thundering Herd.

Jones becomes the first Marshall men’s golfer to earn the league’s top weekly honor since joining the conference prior to last season.

A Westerville, Ohio native, Jones earned a tie for fourth place after finishing the Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, W.Va., at 7-under. The top-five finish helped Marshall finish second place on the team leaderboard which was also ahead of fellow Sun Belt members James Madison and App State.

Jones led all players in the tournament field with 17 birdies and was at par or better in each round. He carded an opening round 66 to finish the first day atop the individual leaderboard.
