NEW ORLEANS – After strong individual efforts, Southern Miss’ Billy Oldham and Georgia Southern’s JD Kaiser secured the Sun Belt weekly honors, presented by BankPlus. 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Billy Oldham, Southern Miss
(Sr., RHP – Brookfield, Conn.) 
 
Golden Eagles senior right-handed pitcher Billy Oldham struck out a career-high 10 over 7.0 innings pitched against conference-leading Louisiana. The Brookfield, Conn., native worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the third and left the contest without surrendering a run on his own. The subsequent relief pitcher gave up a home run that accounted for his two runs surrendered in the contest. Oldham held Ragin’ Cajuns hitters to a .200 batting average, conceding just five hits on the day. 

Baseball Player of the Week
JD Kaiser, Georgia Southern
(Jr., C/DH – Statesboro, Ga.)  
 
Eagles junior catcher and designated hitter JD Kaiser hit .579 (11-for-19) and slugged .842 while leading Georgia Southern to a 4-1 week, including a conference series sweep of Marshall. The Statesboro, Ga., product tallied two doubles, a home run, eight RBI and nine runs scored. Kaiser had at least one RBI in all five games on the week, while his home run was his team-leading eighth on the season.
