NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina freshman forward Eleanor Ashton and James Madison redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sofia DeCerb collected Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors after leading their respective teams to unbeaten ledgers in non-conference play.
 
Ashton becomes the first Chanticleer to receive Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors since Megan Brouse on Oct. 19, 2021, as DeCerb is the first Duke to earn the league’s Defensive Player of the Week nod since goalkeeper Alexandra Blom accomplished the feat on Oct. 11, 2022.
 
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Eleanor Ashton, Coastal Carolina

Ashton recorded a five-point week for the Chants behind two goals and one assist. The freshman registered five shots and netted both goals in Coastal’s 2-0 win over UNC Greensboro on Sept. 12, making her the first Chanticleer to record a multi-goal game since Oct. 2022. The Manchester, England native also recorded her first assist of the year in the team’s 3-1 victory against Davidson on Sept. 15.
 
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Sofia DeCerb, James Madison
(R-Fr. | GK | Greensburg, Pa.)

DeCerb was the back end of a 2-0 road win at East Carolina in the Dukes’ lone contest last week. She held strong against 11 corner kicks and made two saves in the match en route to recording her second shutout of the 2024 campaign.
