NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas State’s Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo and Southern Miss’ Emme Bates each recorded the fastest team times in their respective races to claim Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week honors.
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo, Arkansas State

Arkansas State’s Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo shined at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Oct. 17. The Gatesville, Texas, native shattered his previous personal best in the 8K, replacing a time of 25:15.4 with 23:46.6 to place 25th in the meet.
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Emme Bates, Southern Miss

Emme Bates headlined for the Golden Eagles over the weekend, earning 36th place at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa with a time of 21:00.39. She led Southern Miss to a 10th place finish out of a 22-team field. Bates also was the first Sun Belt runner in the field to finish the 6K race.
