App State Repeats Pair of Sweeps at 2025 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships

FOLEY, Ala. – The App State men and women swept the 2025 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships on Friday at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley for the second straight year. It marked the first time in school history that the Mountaineers swept both the men’s and women’s Sun Belt Conference team crowns in consecutive years.
 
The Mountaineers became the fourth program since 2011 to sweep both titles. They are also the second program in Sun Belt history to earn back-to-back sweeps with the first being Little Rock in 2001-02. For the men, it was their third consecutive title and fourth overall. On the women’s side, it marked their fourth overall title.
 
The App State men finished with 32 points as all seven runners finished as All-Conference award winners. The App State women finished with 77 points and placed all five scoring runners inside the top 20.
 
Arkansas State’s Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo became the third Sun Belt Men’s Cross Country individual champion in program history with a time of 24:04.41. Texas State’s Abigail Parra become the second Sun Belt Conference Women’s Cross Country individual champion in program history with a time of 16:52.1.
 
App State’s Noah Martinson earned Freshman of the Year honors by being the top finishing freshman during the men’s race. Martinson finished fifth overall in 24:09.7. App State’s Tessa Massa also earned Freshman of the Year honors by being the top finishing freshman during the women’s race. Massa finished in 11th place with a time of 17:39.9.
 
ULM’s Kgaogelo Moloisi earned Newcomer of the Year honors by being the top finishing newcomer to the league during the men’s race. Moloisi finished second overall in 24:04.6. James Madison’s Taylor Myers also earned Newcomer of the Year honors by being the top finishing newcomer to the league during the women’s race. Myers finished in 19th place with a time of 17:53.
 
App State’s Henry Stark was named the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Cross Country Elite Award Winner as Louisiana’s Ella Segura was named the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Cross Country Elite Award Winner.
 
The SBC Elite Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the Sun Belt Conference Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The SBC Elite award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating on the final day for each of the Sun Belt Conference’s championships.
